Clinical Staff
Dermatology Associates' staff includes two
four board certified dermatologists as well as
two board-certified physician assistants. Our research department consists of one certified
research coordinator and one non-certified research coordinator, a research assistant and administrator.

For the second year,
Seattle Magazine has named Dr. Bernard Goffe as one of the
citys Top Doctors. Long before the magazine began announcing such
honors Dr. Goffe earned accolades and enduring trust from the
thousands of men and women he has treated during his more than three
decades in dermatology. His commitment and excellence in
treating chronic and sometimes debilitating skin conditions, such
as psoriasis, skin cancer, and eczema have given patients relief
while his research has earned the respect of medical peers.

View Dr Goffe’s Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Goffe obtained his Doctorate of
Medicine from the University of Washington in 1962. He interned at
the Harborview Medical Center and performed his internal medicine
residency at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals. He
was a Fellow in Dermatology at the University of Washington from
1966-1968.
He is a board certified dermatologist, with
credentials from both the American Board of Dermatology and the
American Board of Dermatopathology. He is currently a Clinical
Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Dermatology, at the
University of Washington School of Medicine. He has practiced
dermatology in Seattle since 1968.
Dr. Goffe worked at the United States
Communicable Disease Center in Atlanta, in the Epidemic
Intelligence Service, from 1964 to 1966, and he helped launch the World
Health Organizations smallpox eradication program in West Africa.
In addition, Dr. Goffe served as a Peace Corps physician in Turkey.
Dr. Goffe has made numerous contributions to improving treatment
of diseases such as psoriasis. His clinical research has included the
early study of Psoralen ultraviolet A treatment (PUVA), starting in
1974, psoriasis, and Phase II, III, and IV testing of the new biologic
drugs for psoriasis treatment. In 1998, Dr. Goffe and Dr. Phil Mease
were the first dermatologists to use Enbrel® in psoriasis and
psoriatic arthritis (phase II study) and their research on the topic was
published in Lancet in July 2000.
Locally, Dr. Goffe started the Psoriasis Treatment Center in Seattle in 1975.
He now runs the Psoriasis Treatment & Research Center within
Dermatology Associates, in Seattle.

As a board certified, dermatologic surgeon,
Dr. Bernstein has focused his post graduate
training primarily in skin cancer surgery and
cosmetic surgery such as liposuction, laser
surgery and fat transfer. Having learned the
tumescent liposuction technique from its
originator, Dr. Jeffrey Klein, Dr. Bernstein
returned as one of the pioneers of the technique
in the Northwest. He has also taught liposuction
in seminars nationwide.
Dr. Bernstein continues to enhance his skills
in dermatologic cosmetic surgery by working with
well-known experts in each respective field
throughout the country. He has also lectured and
published in various fields of dermatologic
surgery and cosmetic surgery including three
articles which he co-authored on the safety of
liposuction.
Dr. Bernstein now focuses his work providing
exceptional cosmetic treatments. He is an
authority in cosmetic fillers, Botox, scar
revisions/corrections and mole removals,
liposuction, laser procedures for a wide variety
of conditions.

Ardeth Dunne is a board-certified physician assistant (PAC) who specializes in general and cosmetic dermatology. She graduated from Washington State
University with
a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Lewis and Clark State with a nursing Degree. She received her physician assistant degree from the University of Washington. Her
dermatology experience started in 1994 in Bellevue and has been working in dermatology ever since.
She offers a wide range of dermatologic care including both general and cosmetic dermatologic care. Some of the treatments she offers include Botox Cosmetic,
Restylane and other fillers, Sclerotherapy and chemical peels. Laser treatments include those that minimize wrinkles, facial redness, age spots, laser hair removal and
leg veins, amongst others.

Valerie Cooper is a board-certified physician
assistant (PAC) who specializes in general
dermatology. She graduated from Bethel
University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with a
Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a
minor in psychology. She received her Master's
Degree as a physician assistant from the
University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her
Physician Assistant career began at the Mayo
Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in the
department of Urology, in the section of Neuro-urology
and Female Urology. In 2006, Ms. Cooper
transferred to the Department of Dermatology at
the Mayo Clinic where she practiced both
community general dermatology and cosmetic
dermatology. She has participated in many
dermatologic conferences both of the cosmetic
and general dermatology nature.
She offers a wide range of dermatologic care
including both general and cosmetic dermatologic
care. Her interests are in skin Cancer
evaluations and treatments, psoriasis, acne,
rashes, and hair disease. Some of the cosmetic
treatments she offers include chemical peels and
education regarding facial rejuvenation. Laser
treatments include laser hair removal.
